Fitchburg, MA — All around the world, people talk about the creative and cultural economy as a powerful and positive global force. Artists, nonprofit cultural organizations, and creative businesses produce and distribute goods and services that generate jobs, wealth and cultural engagement. The goal of Fitchburg Artistree is to revitalize downtown Fitchburg by fostering a sense of community among those in town who make art and music. The idea, in short, is to support the town’s growing creative economy.
Fitchburg Artistree is a collective of artists that is bridging the gap between Fitchburg State University and the city’s downtown area. Members get to design their own art-related workshops and organize exhibitions for local artisans. They produce an interactive, hands-on experience in creative directing, curating, arts management, event planning, and collaborative public art projects. The Artistree encourages the existing underground art scene to surface on Main Street. By doing so, the collective helps to bring new arts-oriented tenants into currently vacant spaces downtown.
Whether you are a student, a resident, a local business owner, or a member of a community organization, Fitchburg Artistree is providing an opportunity to just be creative! Let’s join them, follow them, and help them grow!
Further upcoming events include a concert on September 15, starring The Cast of America’s Favorite TV Sitcom, with tickets priced at $5.00. Proceeds will be donated to the Autism Resource Center of Central Massachusetts of West Boylston, MA.
