Worcester, MA — We’re only three days away from the third annual Open Road Music & Arts Festival at Institute Park! Worcester’s own sustainable and Earth-friendly event features two stages with over 20 bands, family-friendly activities, an eclectic variety of cuisine, and many local artists and vendors.
The live music, performed both on a main stage and a side stage, will feature local acts. It kicks off at 11 a.m. and proceeds until 8 p.m. Vendors will be located around the perimeter to sell art, crafts, food and more. The all-ages celebration will also include a children’s entertainment area with games, face painting, collaborative art, and other fun activities.
The goal of Open Road is to raise the awareness of alternative and sustainable lifestyles while bringing the Worcester community together to enjoy local art and extraordinary music. The Festival directly supports the local arts scene, with a portion of the proceeds going to the esteemed Joy of Music Program in Worcester. Examples abound of the Festival’s green orientation, as all electricity use will be matched by local wind power from sources like the wind turbine at Holy Name Central Catholic High School. There will be ample recycling and trash bins located throughout the Festival grounds. The Porta-Potties are environmentally green-certified. And all promotional materials use organic, recycled or water-based products.
Great music, delicious food, fun activities for kids, and live art. How can you go wrong?! So, save the date: September 8, 2012. Want to know the band schedule? Check the Lineup page on the official Festival website.
