The Only Keepsake Book to Teach Children of the Irish Diaspora the Irish National Anthem in Gaelic (phonetically) Launches

Children’s Book: “Our Irish Heritage – A Kid’s Guide to the Irish Diaspora and Irish National Anthem” Launches by Rachel J. Cooper – Irish author of the popular ‘Our National Anthem’ children’s book published in Ireland.

It’s the cherished guide for Irish American children, launched just in time for St. Patrick’s Day.

Not only does “Our Irish Heritage – A Kid’s Guide to the Irish Diaspora and Irish National Anthem” teach children about Ireland and its culture, it is also the only book that teaches the Irish National anthem by including the phonetic easy-to-pronounce (as well as the Irish / Gaelic and English) version of “Amhrán na bhFiann” Ow-ran na Vee-un (The Soldier’s Song). This allows children who do not speak Gaelic to learn the song and be proud to sing it amongst their Irish-American family and peers.

Irish Americans have so much to be proud of, and while children of Irish descent might be aware of their Irish culture – they most likely cannot sing the Irish national anthem. This is a keepsake gift that can be given for St. Patrick’s Day, their communion, as well as a birthday gift.

Along with teaching the National Anthem, this book contains fun historical facts and tells children of the Irish diaspora all about the Irish national emblems, the GAA (Gaelic Athletic Association) Irish Dancing, and the origins of Halloween to name but a few. Children can even pinpoint on the map provided where their relatives came from!

This book is guaranteed to instill a love and curiosity of all things Irish with engaging pictures and text.

“After months of teaching and creating awareness of our Irish National anthem here in Ireland, I decided to include the Irish communities in the USA, after all they are an integral part of our Irish culture and society, and we hold them dearly in our hearts,” says Rachel J. Cooper.

“The Irish national anthem Amhrán na bhFiann is the most famous and important Irish song in the world. It is part of our cultural identity. By knowing the words, background and how to sing it “as Gaeilge” (in Irish), it creates a tie and bond between Irish people at home and the Irish communities in America. The Irish anthem belongs to the Irish people – not just those of us who live here in Ireland – there is no better time to promote it with such a huge focus currently on the Irish language, and make us all proud of our Irish culture and heritage worldwide,” she adds.

“Our anthem is a part of who we are. Amhrán na bhFiann is an integral part of a GAA match day and it is a special occasion when sung by a packed crowd at a game.  Promoting an understanding of and appreciation and respect for our anthem is extremely important and is greatly appreciated,” says GAA President, Larry McCarthy.
