Asbury Shorts NY routinely screens classic short films, combined with new international film festival winners. The featured short is “The Wednesdays” from director Conor Ferguson of Ireland and winner of the very prestigious “International Audience Award” at Clermont-Ferrand in France, one of the world’s top festivals of short films. Mr. Ferguson’s whimsical tale of an elderly couple that finds a modern way to revive their passion has won numerous first prize and Jury awards at festivals around the world. Two international festival circuit honorees in the program include: “Tulip,” a 2000 Oscar nominee directed by acclaimed actress Rachel Griffiths (HBO’s “Six Feet Under,” and currently starring on ABC TV’s “Brothers & Sisters) and “Gone Fishing,” a three time “Best of Show”. Also featured is a US festival favorite: “Backwards” from animator Aaron Hughes. “Backwards” is a love story told entirely in reverse including the dialogue! There will be a dozen award-winning shorts in the Asbury Shorts showcase on November 12.
