New York, NY (February 2010) ¾ For those of you looking for a night of fun, adventure, creative minds a like or inspiration on a Friday night, but not sure where to go; I have a secret to tell you. Shhhh!!! Let’s talk SoundCheck.
If you haven’t heard by now that SoundCheck Live is a concert series premiering right here in your own backyard, that indicates you’ve been living under a rock some where, but fortunately, that will all change. Live at Santos Party House on 96 Lafayette Street in Manhattan is where the vibe is created; energy is felt and where timeless memories are built.
The concert series is a platform built to express, as well as experience, the Arts in all genres of music (Hip Hop, Rock, Pop, R&B, Funk, Alternative etc.) Spoken Word, Fashion and beyond. The SoundCheck is where you will witness the fundamentals of Universal entertainment.
Join us the beginning of every month for a night of grand entertainment. It’s a Friday night you don’t want to miss, a night you won’t forget. Invest your time where time counts most: at The SoundCheck.

The SoundCheck Live is calling out to all creative beings. The SoundCheck is holding auditions March 2010. The location and time are TBA. We are looking for the fun and energetic, the mellow and soulful. We know you have what it takes! So, join us and show NYC what you are made of. This is an open call to all musicians in all genres, fashion designers, the visual and performing arts.

Hip Hop Producer and Promoter, BreyKing has been promoting shows since February 2005 at Sputnik, formerly Club T-NY, Club Europa, The Avena Lounge at LIU, etc and then July 2009 he started The SoundCheck Live. Actress/Dancer/Radio Personality MoBrown Suga is the hostess and of course The SoundCheck’s very own “Youngest DJ in charge” DJ Gully, runs the deck.

Asbury Shorts New York: 30th Anniversary “SHORT FILM CONCERT” comes to
The Puffin Cultural Forum on Saturday March 13th @7:30pm and Sunday March 14th @ 4:00pm.
Highlights include award winning short films by Director Jason Reitman(“Up in the Air”, “JUNO”)
and an opening live performance by Primordial Jazz Funktet.
FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE: (Teaneck, NJ) – Asbury Shorts, New York City’s longest running annual
short film exhibition, now entering it’s 30th Anniversary season, will present their acclaimed program
of international award winning shorts at The Puffin Cultural Forum on Saturday, March 13th and
Sunday March 14th. Primordial Jazz Funktet will open the Saturday night program with a live
performance beginning @ 7:30pm; the films begin @ 8:00pm. The Sunday, March 14th film program,
will begin @ 4:00pm. Suggested donation for both shows is $15 general admission. Reservations are

Asbury Shorts NY routinely screens classic short films from the past, combined with new
international film festival winners, providing the public a rare opportunity to see world‐class films in
a theatrical setting rather than on a computer or iPod. Highlights of the program include 2 shorts
directed by Jason Reitman, whose feature film “Up in the Air” is currently in theatres nationwide and
won Best Screenplay at the 2010 Golden Globes. Mr. Reitman was nominated for an Oscar in 2008 for
his mega hit film “JUNO.” The two Sundance Film Festival honorees are: “Consent,” a 6 minute comedy from 2005 about two young lovers seeking some very special protection before committing
romantically and “In God We Trust,” the tale of a recently deceased young man who must return to
earth and earn points for admittance to Heaven. Also featured in the approximately 2 hour showcase
is “Super Powers” from NY filmmakers Jeremy Kipp Walker and John Walker, winner of “Best
Narrative Short Film” at the 2007 Tribeca Film Festival and Oscar Winner “Father & Daughter” 2001‐
Best Animated Short from Belgium. An Asbury Shorts evening combines the absolute best in Live
Action Comedy, Drama and outstanding Animation.

Primordial Jazz Funktet, originally from Atlanta, plays many compositions by its founder,
Dan Furman. The music is strongly influenced by funk, traditional jazz, hip hop and world music
sounds. They will perform only before the film show on Saturday night, March 13th. You can visit:

“Living on the island isn’t for everyone. Thank God,” says Anna Marie D’Addarie. She washed ashore on Martha’s Vineyard 10 years ago with her husband, Don. A recent widow, a situation she does not recommend to anyone, Anna Marie is a free-lance writer who also works full-time for Martha’s Vineyard Community Services. Anna Marie volunteers in the community when she’s not working one of her many part-time jobs such as knitting instructor at Island Alpaca Co., House Manager at the Vineyard Playhouse, and Library Aide at the Oak Bluffs Public Library. Anna Marie considers her family and friends to be the greatest blessings in her life.

Lidija Butković is natural-born cosmopolite and incorrigible philanthropist; a (not) meant to be journalist and convinced polyglot. Addicted to chocolate and books. She adores good advertisements and ice-skating. Never misses the Belgrade Book Fair. Her favorite part of a day is the morning with a cup of Earl Grey. Lidija’s unfulfilled wish is to see the ocean. (We’ll get her to MV one of these days!) In her spare time she lives her life; when she grows up she wants to be a child!
Tirzah De Franco

Tirzah De Franco is a Tennessee native who stumbled upon a new life in Ecuador. She has spent over a decade working in Ecuador and just might stay. When she is not teaching English she loves doing community work, spending time with the locals, and savoring their food, especially anything with peanut sauce in it. Her favorite place to be is out in the tropical mountains, rivers, or beaches.

Kelly is originally from the Adirondacks of New York, spent over a decade in Rhode Island, was inspired by her travels in Eastern Europe (with Sitka’s owner) and later, Southeast Asia. An always-thinking-business-DIY-geek; she blends her previous corporate design and marketing experience with her various (rather un-related) grassroots start-up venture experiences. When not working on SITKA projects, her spare time is spent studying the Lao language, dabbling in freelance writing, exploring Laos via her scooter and camera lens. She has a preference for strong Turkish coffee and Pentel Needle Tip pens; in a world without money she would gladly work for either.

Martha’s Vineyard, MA
Alfred Rivera is an ever-so-close to nearing middle aged upstart and a career dishwasher bent on recycling pre-existing gentrified personalities, and strange things that he has heard on a bus into a pseudo-fabulous 155 pound mammalian box-set of yellowing teeth, speed-dialed wrong answers with tectonic slabs of over-confidence. ARIV can sometimes be found playing (music) in cafe’s and clubs on Martha’s Vineyard. We’ll keep you posted!
